What is Regeneration ? Revive, revitalize, renew, restore, breathe new life into, rejuvenate, reanimate, resuscitate, reawaken, rekindle, kick-start, uplift, change radically, improve, amend, reorganize: Regeneration is all of these things and nowhere is it needed more than in Tropical Island Paradises where the continued existence of the Palm Tree, the Tree of Life is threatened. Unfortunately most of the worlds coconut trees are coming to the end of their life and are not being replanted. Most of the worlds coconut is on small plots of land owned by local farmers who have no incentive to replant. Regenerative agriculture can solve this. It is the capture of atmospheric carbon dioxide by growing plants that move carbon dioxide into the soil and the coconut palm is very good at this.

We are working together with local communities in Flores to plant 75,000 trees, together with other crops like banana and coffee which grow naturally in their shade. This natural intercropping will sequester 2.5 times more carbon from the atmosphere than natural rainforest. Constructing small local factories to make virgin coconut oil and banana flour will provide income for farmers and the coconut shells will produce high quality charcoal, the most efficient smokeless fuel.
